Although Sunera Foundation has had marked success in obtaining funding for its workshops and performances, both in Sri Lanka and internationally, like many charitable organisations, it can find it difficult to fund ‘core’ activities – just running an office and financial systems, for example, even though none of the other work could happen without this basic infrastructure.  It also attaches great importance to training the leaders of the workshops and continuing to enhance their skills. FSF hopes to help with these essential, if less glamorous, costs.

Much of the income raised so far has been from donations – both one off, and regular small sums pledged by standing order.  However some Friends have undertaken fundraising activities and made generous donations form the proceeds.  These have included a sale of handmade jewellery, a pop music gig and a weekend festival of one-person shows, led by Alison Skilbeck.  A local drama group in Suffolk made a donation from its annual proceeds after hearing about Sunera at its AGM.  People are asking for donations instead of presents for special birthdays and anniversaries.  Any contribution, big or small, is welcome – and can be increased in value if a Gift Aidd form is signed
